Landlord Prosecution Continues

2/6/2013

Last week the city cited another landlord whose tenant refused to allow an inspection.

Not all landlords can stand up against the city.
This landlord tried to evict her tenant for not agreeing to an inspection!

An unlawful eviction is prohibited by Texas Property Code.
Also, evicting a tenant for a reason other than non-payment of rents is very hard.

This is what the unreasonable ordinance does--pitting (not so strong) landlords against tenants, forcing the landlords to violate the tenants' rights.

This tenant is afraid that the landlord may not renew his lease.  He really likes his house and neighborhood and doesn't want to move.  His plan was to buy a house in Richardson within a few years.  Because of this experience, he probably won't buy a house in Richardson.  Who wants to?!
